From telling old stories, drumming, traditional songs, or weaving baskets and tanning hides the way it’s always been done, a wealth of cultural knowledge resides in the Skeetchestn community.
Several times a year these talents are showcased at traditional pow-wows (which welcome visitors) and during cultural awareness events. Rodeos and sport tournaments are also organized on a request basis.
The community is proud to have in its midst people who are skilled in the visual arts, traditional dancing, singing, drumming, traditional crafts, bone and stuck games, running sweats, planning and decorating for special events, first telling, traditional tool making, age-old fishing methods, traditional food preservation techniques, plant identification, backcountry guiding, horsemanship, and archeological field trips to view the natural and social history of the Deadman Creek area.
